Gospel Message

It is our deepest desire to share with you news that is infinitely importantto you and your eternal destiny. It is a fact that one day, we will all face death. “And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment, ” (Hebrews 9:27 )

Many would rather not discuss this. Those who do, usually state that they “hope” they will make it into heaven. Yet they live with uncertainty.

It is God’s desire for all mankind to hear the gospel (Literally – The good news) so that they can be certain of a personal relationship with God now and extending beyond the grave. “This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. ” (1 Timothy 2:3-4 )

Is it not worth a few moments of your time to consider your relationship with God in light of what He has to say about it from His word. “Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away. ” (James 4:14)

1. Sin is anything that falls short of God’s perfection.

Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: “Speak to all the congregation of the sons of Israel and say to them, ‘You shall be holy, for I the Lord your God am holy. “(Leviticus 19:1-2)

“For I proclaim the name of the Lord; Ascribe greatness to our God! “The Rock! His work is perfect, For all His ways are just; A God of faithfulness and without injustice, Righteous and upright is He. ” (Deuteronomy 32:3-4)

2. All men are sinners.

Many will try to console themselves with the fact that they are not as bad as some others. They believe that since they are not murderers or child molesters, they are therefore acceptable to God and will be allowed into heaven. But God’s assessment of our guilt is far different from the common opinionGod says very clearly that we are all sinners.

as it is written, “There is none righteous, not even one;
(Romans 3:10)

for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
(Romans 3:23 )

Though we have not been as bad as we could be, we are nonetheless, sinners in the eyes of God.

3. The wages of sin is death.

Death – literally means separation.

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)

Our sins have placed a barrier between a Holy God and His rebellious creation.

a. Spiritually dead now.

Because of our sin, we are unable to have any relationship with God.

But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised. ” (1 Corinthians 2:14)

b. Physical death.

The fact that all men die is undeniable truth that all men are sinners.

but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you will surely die.” (Genesis 2:17)

c. Eternal death.

These will pay the penalty of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power, ” (2 Thessalonians 1:9)

4. God is holy and righteous.

Holy – Unable to accept the presence of sin.

But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, And your sins have hidden His face from you so that He does not hear. ” (Isaiah 59:2)

Righteous – Unable to simply overlook sin.

God is a righteous judge, And a God who has indignation every day. ” (Psalm 7:11)

5. Man is unable to rid himself of sin and its consequences.

A. Good works cannot save you from sin.

Most people believe that we must do something to earn our way to heaven. For them, their; baptism, church attendance, good motives, charitable works or a host of other things will be their ticket to heaven.Nothing could be farther from the truth.

For all of us have become like one who is unclean, And all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment; And all of us wither like a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, take us away. ” (Isaiah 64:6)

For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. ” (Ephesians 2:8-9)

For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the Law. ”  (Romans 3:28)

B. God makes it clear that we are without hope.

Mankind can do nothing to rid themselves from the presence of sin. Even if we could somehow live a perfect life beginning today (which would be obviously impossible), we remain guilty of sins committed in the past and therefore deserve death. We can do nothing by ourselves to escape our sinful condition and its deadly consequences.

remember that you were at that time separate from Christ, excluded from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. ” (Ephesians 2:12)

These truths make the “Good News” of the gospel that much more meaningful.

6. It is God who has provided a way for us to be cleansed from our sin.

Sin requires a penalty of death, and God, because of His righteousness, cannot simply overlook sin – God provided a perfect sacrifice. Someone who would bear the penalty for our sins Himself.

He made Him (Jesus Christ) who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” (2 Corinthians 5:21)

7. Who is Jesus?

Many will say that they believe in Jesus, but a quick examination will reveal that their Jesus is not the Jesus of the Bible. Some believe that Jesus is a good man or a good teacher. Others believe that He is the brother of Lucifer while still others believe He is a prophet of God. All of these people will say they believe in Jesus, but theirs is not the Jesus of the Bible!

Jesus is:

A. Son of God. (God in the flesh)

For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form, ” (Colossians 2:9)

B. Jesus is the only acceptable Payment for our sins.

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. ” “Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him. ” (Romans 5:8,9)

knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, theblood of Christ. ” (1 Peter 1:18-19)

In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace ” (Ephesians 1:7)

C. Jesus is now alive having been Raised from the dead.

Now I make known to you, brethren, the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received, in which also you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, ” (1 Corinthians 15:1-4)

D. Jesus is Seated now at the right hand of the throne of God.

By this will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. Every priest stands daily ministering and offering time after time the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins; but He, having offered one sacrifice for sins for all time, sat down at the right hand of God, ” (Hebrews 10:10-12)

Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. ” (Colossians 3:1)

E. Jesus is Lord.

And with great power the apostles were giving testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and abundant grace was upon them all.” (Acts 4:33)

that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. ” (Romans 10:9-10)

8. What is required of us?

A. Salvation is through faith alone in the person and work of Jesus Christ.

Salvation is realizing that our sinful condition leaves us without hope and trusting in Christ’s death burial and resurrection as the only acceptable payment for our sin.

Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, ” (Romans 5:1)

But to the one who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited as righteousness, ” (Romans 4:5)

For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; ” (Ephesians 2:8)

B. Repentance.

Repentance is to change your mind about Jesus Christ which will manifest itself in a changed course of action for your life.

Now after John had been taken into custody, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of God, and saying, ” The time is fulfilled , and the kingdom of God is at hand ; repent and believe in the gospel .” ” (Mark 1:14-15)

“Therefore having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all people everywhere should repent, ” (Acts 17:30)

The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.”  (2 Peter 3:9)

Any attempt to alter the gospel message by either requiring good works to help earn salvation or minimizing the pure gospel by denying the need of repentance or acknowledgment that Jesus is Lord is considered to be afalse gospel.

I am amazed that you are so quickly deserting Him who called you by the grace of Christ, for a different gospel; which is really not another; only there are some who are disturbing you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed! ” (Galatians 1:6-8)

9. What is your response to hearing the gospel message?

A. If you have seen the sinfulness of your life and desire to have a deep and abiding

relationship with God through faith alone in the completed work of Christ then you

must simply come to Him in prayer and acknowledge these truths.

that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. ” (Romans 10:9-10)

If you have trusted in Christ alone for the forgiveness of your sins, God wants you to know that you have eternal life.

And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life. ” (1 John 5:11-13)

1) Your sins are forgiven.

Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” (Romans 8:1)

In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace ” (Ephesians 1:7)

For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. ” (Colossians 1:13-14)

2) You have been “born again”.

Paul speaking of his ministry

but kept declaring both to those of Damascus first, and also at Jerusalem and then throughout all the region of Judea, and even to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, performing deeds appropriate to repentance. ” (Acts 26:20)

Speaking of Christ, the apostle Paul says ..

and He died for all, so that they who live might no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died and rose again on their behalf. ” (2 Corinthians 5:15)

Jesus is our Master and we are to submit to Him as such!

The one who says, “I have come to know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him; but whoever keeps His word, in him the love of God has truly been perfected. By this we know that we are in Him: the one who says he abides in Him ought himself to walk in the same manner as He walked. ” (1 John 2:4-6 )

3) You have been adopted into God’s family.

For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, “Abba! Father!” ” (Romans 8:15)

He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will, ” (Ephesians 1:5)

4) When you die, you will be immediately ushered into His presence where you will dwell for all of eternity.

we are of good courage, I say, and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord. ” (2 Corinthians 5:8)

5) Your relationship with God is secure.

In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation—having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is given as a pledge of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of God’s own possession, to the praise of His glory. ” (Ephesians 1:13-14)

On the other hand …

B. If, after hearing the “Good News” you choose to ignore God’s provision of salvation:

1) You will face God’s righteous judgment.

But because of your stubbornness and unrepentant heart you are storing up wrath for yourself in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, who will render to each person according to his deeds: ” (Romans 2:5-6)

2) You will face continued separation from God.

dealing out retribution to those who do not know God and to those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. These will pay the penalty of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power, ” (2 Thessalonians 1:8-9)

3) You will face an eternity of suffering.

” The Son of Man will send forth His angels , and they will gather out of His kingdom all stumbling blocks , and those who commit lawlessness , and will throw them into the furnace of fire ; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” (Matthew 13:41-42)

“Then they will go forth and look On the corpses of the men Who have transgressed against Me. For their worm will not die And their fire will not be quenched; And they will be an abhorrence to all mankind.”” (Isaiah 66:24)

“In Hades he lifted up his eyes , being in torment , and saw Abraham far away and Lazarus in his bosom . “And he cried out and said , ‘ Father Abraham , have mercy on me, and send Lazarus so that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool off my tongue , for I am in agony in this flame .’ ” (Luke 16:23-24)

We beg you to seriously consider the condition of your soul. There is nothing more important. “Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.” (2 Corinthians 5:20)

Therefore, knowing the fear of the Lord, we persuade men, but we are made manifest to God; and I hope that we are made manifest also in your consciences. ” (2 Corinthians 5:11)
